Simulacrum Model And Students’ Academic Achievement In Building Technology In Polytechnics In Rivers State

The study focused on simulacrum model and students’ achievement in Building Technology in Polytechnics in Rivers State. The study explores effects of simulacrum model and students’ achievement in masonry works and damp proofing skills in Polytechnics in Rivers State. Two purposes, research questions and hypotheses guided the study. The design of this study is a quasi-experimental pre-test, post-test design with experimental and non-equivalent groups. The population for the study comprised 160 National Diploma Level II Building Technology students in Captain Elechi Amadi and Ken Sarowiwa Polytechnics. The instrument, lesson plans and the table of specification/test blue print were subjected to face and content validation by two experts. The instrument has a reliability index of .87. The findings of the study revealed that the experimental group had a higher achievement mean score when compared with the control group. The paper recommends that simulacrum model should be adopted by curriculum teachers in the teaching and learning of technology in the Polytechnics.References
